Pre-School

Quality Pre-School Mansfield

Our pre-school room accommodates children from three to five years of age, although children are likely to start the transition before their third birthday. The focus in the pre-school room is more on learning and development and the children are able to choose from a wide range of stimulating resources and activities. Within the pre-school environment there is a colourful display of children’s artwork, a cosy ‘reading area’, a role play kitchen and shop, a creative area and an interactive whiteboard and computer area to access stories and games.

The creative area provides a space to enjoy a wide range of creative activities: painting, sticking, drawing, colouring, using glue and glitter, play dough, baking and food tasting to mention but a few. Regular group times are a key feature in our pre-school room, either the whole group sharing experiences or small groups enjoying age appropriate activities designed to stretch and challenge children’s learning. Our ‘sign of the week’ is popular with the pre-school children and they enjoy learning new Makaton signs to practice with their friends and families.

Our Pre-Schoolers Follow The Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS)

We work closely with parents to accommodate individual children’s needs, by supporting any particular dietary requirements and we work with parents to support sleep routines and children when they are ready for toilet training and we take the opportunity to especially enjoy our extensive outdoor spaces each day.

The toddlers follow the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS), a structure of learning development and care that all schools and early years providers follow from birth to five years old. There are 3 prime areas that we focus on with the toddlers:

At this stage we will introduce the 4 specific areas of the Early Years Foundation Stage:

Quality Pre-School Mansfield

We work closely with parents to accommodate children’s individual needs, by supporting any particular dietary requirements and we work with parents on sleep routines and toilet training for those children who still need this support. In pre-school we take the opportunity to enjoy our extensive outdoor spaces as often as possible, making the most of the different areas the garden has to offer: the covered all-weather surface, woodland play area and the educational zone with its planting area all falling within our secure boundary, with wider walks and play areas at our disposal on Ransom Wood’s 70 acre woodland site.

All our pre-school children enjoy a regular 1:1 session during which time they will share a story, talk about their experiences draw or write and enjoy the opportunity to develop their skills.

“Thank you so much for all you do for Chester and for continuing to contribute to making him the lovely little boy he is.”
